The unidentified pedestrian was struck at Columbia Pike and Tyler Street in Bailey's Crossroads on Wednesday, Nov. 16, Fairfax County police said on Twitter around 9:30 a.m.
The victim, who police only described as a teenager, was taken to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The driver remained on the scene, authorities said.
Southbound Columbia Pike was closed at Lacy Boulevard and Northbound Columbia Pike was down to one lane as police were investigating the scene.
Motorists were being urged to find alternative routes.
A Public Information Officer was expected at the scene.
